Concept Demonstration

Area & Network Mapping (Concept Demo)

How standard bill metadata (Section, Bill Area, and Transformer ID) can correlate neighborhood power reliability without collecting private personal information.

ℹ️
Demonstration Architecture Only: This screen demonstrates the architectural methodology for neighborhood signal clustering. No live utility grid database is connected, and no live consumer data is harvested.

1. The Bill Identifiers Found on Every KSEB Bill

Every printed electricity bill contains 4 hierarchy markers that connect a home to the electrical grid.

Section Office
Code: 1142

The local electrical section office (e.g. Alappuzha Town). Manages 15,000–30,000 consumers and localized line repair squads.

Bill Area
Area: A04

Localized pocket or residential route within the section. Groups 500–1,500 meters along a shared physical branch.

DTR Identifier
DTR: 204-T

Distribution Transformer stepping down 11kV to 240V/415V. Typically serves 40–100 residential homes on the street.

Pole Code
Pole: P-14/3

Physical pole delivering the drop-cable to the consumer premises. Used by line workers to locate drop-wire disconnects.

2. Civic Privacy Shield: Zero Personal Identifiers

Comparing conventional surveillance systems with PowerNow's civic minimization architecture.

What PowerNow NEVER Collects

  • • 13-digit Consumer Number: Linked to personal utility identity and account balances.
  • • Phone Numbers & Names: Personal contact info is strictly excluded.
  • • Exact Residential Address: House names, door numbers, and PIN codes are never asked.
  • • Private Utility SCADA Topology: Proprietary grid single-line diagrams remain protected.
✓

What We Use for Anonymous Clustering

  • • One-Way Coarse Hash: SHA256(Section_ID + DTR_ID) groups neighbors sharing a transformer.
  • • Minimum Aggregation Gate: No transformer cluster is visualized unless at least 3 distinct reports correlate.
  • • Voluntary Civic Input: Users choose what signals they record, with all data kept local during current beta.
  • • Zero-Storage Transit: With Decision PN-051, all submissions remain solely on your device.

3. Network Triage: How Signals Differentiate Scope

Understanding whether an outage is at your meter, your transformer, or the entire 11kV feeder.

1

Home / Service Drop Fault

Single report on DTR-204. Neighbors on the same transformer still have lights.

Action: Check MCB/ELCB & call local lineman
2

Transformer (DTR) Breakdown

6 homes on DTR-204 report power loss within 10 minutes. Surrounding DTRs have power.

Action: Likely HT/LT fuse blown on transformer
3

Feeder / Substation Outage

Dozens of reports spanning multiple billing areas in Section 1142.

Action: 11kV Feeder trip or scheduled shutdown
